Concrete Canoe Team

About

Using the cumulation of both engineering and interpersonal skills, Concrete Canoe is a competition to build an engineering-sound boat out of concrete. Student teams must design, plan, communicate, and execute the creation of their ship. The process simulates working on projects in the real industry and tests students on their ability in engineering concepts, project management, and teamwork. Then, they will compete with other schools in various grades, including composition, aesthetics, and race.

The primary focus of this group is to determine the most efficient hull, concrete mix, and racing strategy that will yield the highest possible score at the ASCE Pacific Northwest Regional Student Conference, held annually in the spring.

The PSU ASCE Concrete Canoe team is a group of students focused on designing, building, and racing a canoe made entirely out of concrete.  The competition allows students to apply engineering and project management concepts that they will need in their professional careers, and it helps students network with peers and professionals.

The main research focus of this group is to determine the most efficient hull, concrete mix, and racing strategy that will result in the highest possible score at the ASCE Pacific Northwest Regional Student Conference, held every spring.
